WYPI High School Radio! Coming to an iPod near you soon!

Welcome to the WYPI High School Radio blogsite!!
Radio broadcasting has been a part of high school curriculum for years. Since the inception of radio, schools have been involved in the field, transmitting their local news and opinions to their community. Today’s technology gives us an excellent chance to re-invigorate the concept of high school radio, with low cost solutions and bigger audience potential than ever before possible. Our aim is to educate our students on these emerging technologies with both lab and lecture courses, and internet radio and video programming from several “satellite” schools.

Our students all have stories to tell, as they diligently pursue their education and future. Our aim is to introduce broadcasting and communications to our students, and enable them to reach out to the world in a new and exciting way. The Broadcast Club will give students hands-on training in the basics of broadcasting, getting them involved in all school events and express their talent, creativity, thoughts and views of life.

WYPI will give students hands-on training in the basics of broadcasting, getting them involved in all school events and express their talent, creativity, thoughts and views of life. We will bring all of our incredible projects, from original podcasts to video production to you.

WYPI
will feature news, reviews, interviews, op-ed pieces, public service announcements, and general information relating to students, their school experience, and life as a whole.

Our program starts on July 12th, 2010, and we have chosen Camino Nuevo High School, in Los Angeles as our launching pad!
Several weekly “shows”, both live and recorded, will be programmed on multiple online platforms, with additional social networking to promote the student's work.

We will use all of the new technology that the Web 2.0 can throw our way. iTunes, Rhapshody, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Digg, and tons more sites and applications like these will be the testing grounds of our shows and projects.

We want you to listen to our podcast on your iPhone, or read our blogs on your Blackberry. Join our conversations online and re-tweet our latest news and info. The sky is the limit and we are aiming for the stars!

In addition, students will attend lab and lecture classes, with a focus on broadcasting, podcasting, social networking and audio and web production. Field trips will be planned as will live remote broadcasts and special event coverage.
Be sure to tune into our upcoming live broadcasts, and bookmark this blog site to stay up to date with our current developments.

Help us spread the word as we prepared to go "live" to the world!
